My new hobby

I was all set for shopping today. Had taken leave to go to Siliguri and shop my needful but all in vein as I got conjunctivitis! Sucks. Along with my eyes my head is also hurting. I can't be in front of laptop for long. I shouldn't watch TV or read books. I don't know what to do. Slept long, got up at twelve to kill time and another reason to be warm inside my blanket in this cold day.
Got this new hobby of trying some easy recipe along with my sister. Trying recipe through cookbook or some net search. If you have any good snack recipe please do share. Made chilli cheese toast yesterday and today garlic potato tikki. Both were good except that all the fillings came out of Aloo tikki. So instead to deep frying we made in frying pan with less oil.
I hope this winter gets over soon!!!

The song reader

Found this new book in http://www.landmarkonthenet.com.com called “The song reader” by Lisa Tucker.

The plot: When two sisters are left alone after the death of their mother and the disappearance of their father, Mary Beth becomes the hero of both her younger sister and their entire town. She is a "song reader." She doesn't read palms or tarot cards; she reads people's secrets and desires from the songs they can't get out of their minds.

Me & my mother in Law

My mother in law had come home for a short visit on her way to Siliguri. It’s always so good to see her. Before my engagement I could not talk to her as a daughter as it would felt forceful but since I am engaged things have turned better. She calls me up almost every day and it has become a habit to talk to her once or twice a day. This bond feels good and I hope it stays like this forever. It was little difficult to call my mother in law as “Maa” (that is what she wanted me to call her), but now it doesn’t really matter. Indeed we both like to say and hear “Maa”. When other members of mine or his family gets confused of which mother I am referring, I tell them Mumma means my mother in law and Mummy or Maa means my mom :)

She got a pretty salwar suits for me today and now she wants a party from me since my birthday is nearing. Wow things are happening!!

Writings..

It’s been a couple of month I left Bangalore, a month since I am engaged, nearly 19 days since my sister got married. So many things have changed. With these changes I always wanted to share my heart to this blog but this and that always kept me away from being here.

Today finally I gather time to jot down and like always it feels great.

I was asked by my company to write blog post. Wait! does it mean professional post?? Oh yes!! The word “Formal/professional” doesn’t describe me when it comes to writing. As Harshita, My Shit-For-Tat friends and other fellow bloggers always described as “Dil Se” writer with “No mirch masala”. Well I still took this challenge of writing and learning for my seniors and thought it’s always good to learn more. I indeed wrote two posts that was published on my company bloglist on my name and designation (which I can’t divulge here Sad smile sorry!! company policy).

It is not easy to write a formal post as so many things should be kept in mind. At times it gets so boring and many times irritating too. Still the final result always adds smile to the lips.

Don’t wanna continue any more on this topic. Wait for more, Nidz will be back soon with many updates and many more post.

This blog was expected to be published on 28th December but published it today.

Anyways Happy New Year to all of you. May 2011 be filled with joys and happiness.

Not suppose to happen :(

Don't know what am I feeling, why am I feeling like this as nothing is in my head that I have been thinking. I was upset whole day but I don't know the reason behind it. May be my mind is passively thinking something and not letting me know. All I feel is some kind of disturbance in my normal emotions.

His mom said to me she was so upset yesterday that she didn't feel like eating, she was almost in tears. He too doesn't express his feelings.

We were suppose to be engaged by now but due to strike our engagement got postpone to 28th Nov. I know it is just a matter of some days more. Some might console me by saying 'when you guys waited so long may be few days more, sabar ka phal mitha hota hai' and stuff...but I know, he knows what it feels to wait every day for that One Day and it doesn't happen. Devil Every second seems so long now.

Finally ..

Me and RD

It’s been 8 years but butterflies in my stomach still exist. I still die to hear him say the golden words "I love you". The talks are getting longer every night. With each passing day the wait seems to be longer. It feels like time has stopped and even kicking the hands of clock won’t help.
We are getting engaged on 23rd November.
It will be a small function but a big step in our lives, two family union. I am so excited. In between RD had come to meet me. My mom introduces him to my Grand-Dad saying “ye aapka chota jawai hai” (this is your younger son-in-law). Grand Dad started with his small interview session and RD was patiently replying all the questions darted on him. Mom teased RD with best wishes for interview Smile with tongue out
After he left Grand Dad was so pleased to inform my Dad that he really liked RD. He said I am lucky to have such a handsome and good man and family. All is going good and I am dying to meet him again. He is been so busy these days but we end up talking most of the nights.
On the other hand my elder sister (Shweta Di) is getting married on 9th Dec. Dance practises are going on for Di’s wedding. RD and I are planning to perform a duet dance.
I left B’lore and now back home. It feels really great. I am enjoying yummy home food and feeling of being in family feels great with new add-on this time. Diwali was awesome. I was busy with Diya decoration. This time departing from B’lore wasn’t that excruciating because I was so excited for my sister’s wedding. Anil Sawan came to drop me in airport early morning. It was really sweet of him to come to airport directly from work.
Life is at its full fledge Smile

Restless mind ~~

Its 3:35 AM and I am still not sleepy. Have to be in office my 8:30AM. I don’t know how I will manage. I am having another restless night with bombarding thoughts in my mind. I thought I should return to the cocoon (my blog) and find some peace by having words with myself and my fellow readers.

Finally my sister got engaged. It was a long wait but it happened for good. She isn’t much romantic type of person. These days I realised I too fall in that category. Actually I am romantic but I am not filmy romantic. I am more of logical and practical person who choose to express my feelings with words and gestures. I never know RD would be filmy romantic but believe me he is. It took me long time to realise. You know what I mean when any one say filmy romantic – building castle in Spain types, whim to be in Rome when you are actually in Singapore. But that's like the ideal hero. Don’t we like when Runbeer  (I can imagining him running to catch a can of beer and say my can :P)realises he is in love and does all the crazy things for Katreena in 'Ajab Prem ki Jajab Kahani'? Don’t we glee in every dialogs of 'Dil toh Pagal hai'?
Does being mature take you away from your flight to your fancy land?
I hope NOT!

Solutions of some problems

Many weird things happen in our day to day life. Somethings we find easy to manage and other things are just not in our hand. We try our best to make our day perfect but something goes wrong and we wonder where did we go wrong? why things have to go so bad?
When nothing works, we look for peace for our restless mind.
There are mantras which can help us in some situations. Mantras are not about the translation but rather about the sound vibration they set up and also about your intention in using them. When the words are pronounce correctly it will have its effect even though we might not know the meaning. Improper pronunciation of Mantra can inflict losses.
Its always advisable to understand the meanings of such Mantras; mean it, feel it and recite.
When I was kid my mom made me recite some Aarti, Bhajans, Slokas and Mantras. I did not know the meanings of what I used to recite then but as per her it would definitely help me in one way or the other.
I am sharing some Mantras which will help in our daily life.
Use this mantra to remove obstacles from any area of your life. You don't even have to know what the obstacle is exactly for this to be of benefit.

Ganesh Mantra - Obstacle Breaker

Shanti Mantra ( Peaceful )

This is the shanti mantra, very peaceful to listen

The "sarveshaam mantra" is one of the peace or shanti mantras
which may be used to invoke
harmony and tranquility
in the environment in which puja or prayers are performed.
This shanti mantra may be repeated three or eleven times, as time permits. The mantra may perhaps be used as a closing prayer for the puja, to bless all those in attendance.
Sarveshaam Svastir Bhavatu
Sarveshaam Shaantir Bhavatu
Sarveshaam Purnam Bhavatu
Sarveshaam Mangalam Bhavatu.
Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah
Sarve Santu Niramayaah.
Sarve Bhadrani Pashyantu.
Maa Kashchit Duhkhabhahg Bhavetll
May good befall all,
May there be peace for all,
May all be fit for perfection, and
May all experience that which is auspicious.
May all be happy.
May all be healthy.
May all experience what is good and
let no one suffer.
May it so happen (-bhavantu) that everyone (-sarve) receives happiness (-sukhinah) ;
let them all be saint-like (-santu) and be without disease and in good health (-niraamayaah).
Let them see with their own eyes (-pashyantu) the goodness of life (-bhadaraani) ;
And let them not (maa) contemplate in their conscious mind (-kashchidh) any sorrow inducing (dukh) thoughts while they remain beneficiaries (-bhavet) of good fortune (-bhaag).

Are you too friendly at work?

Read a interesting article in http://www.idiva.com today about relationship with employees. How personal can you get with your colleagues. We think we should maintain professionalism at work but as the matter of fact some personal stuff do get mixed up in spite of not wanting it. Reasons could me
  • Indians are too friendly
  • emotional
  • when you spend much time together in same place you tend to open up.

You've been working with the same team for over a year and you feel like they are family. You think you can go clubbing with one colleague, discuss your love life with the other and exchange recipes with the third. That's great, except that it might not be the best idea.

Now we're not suggesting you become a conceited little stuck-up. All we're saying is not to let your guard down too quick.

Take a look at our tips on how to deal with colleagues in different scenarios. They'll help you fit in without crossing those invisible boundaries.

When bonding over the boss...

He's a taskmaster and everyone cribs about him. So it seems like a good idea to cuss behind his back and poke a little fun at him too. Just don't be surprised the next day when your boss stares at you so hard, he could burn you down to a cinder. It's probably your colleague who donned the wings of "the little birdie."

If your dragon boss yelled his head off at you for no apparent reason, that's your cue to let off a little steam. But don't make gossiping about the boss or exaggerating/ inventing stuff about him a habit.

When you're invited for a party...

So you've tuned your antennae to detect kiss-ups, slackers and the likes, so you can avoid them. But don't distance yourself completely. If you're invited for dinner with the group, don't turn down the offer. You don't want them to think you're uptight, now do you? Plus, it's a great opportunity to get your colleagues to warm up to you and for you to decide which ones you need to be careful about.

But remember, just because it's after hours, doesn't mean it's okay to let your guard down completely. Watch what you say and how you behave; after all, you will have to see them in office tomorrow!

When you're part of a team...

So you think you are the best at what you do. Sure; you probably are. But you are not the boss – not yet at least. If your boss has assigned a task to someone, you don't need to doubt your team mate's abilities. Instead, focus on what has been assigned to you. Stop trying to play mother hen to your colleagues. Handholding them or doing their work is not your job! You don't get brownie points for that. In fact, you'll either get nicknamed "the bully" or become the doormat.

But while you are staying focused on your work, remember, it's always good to lend someone a hand now and then. They might just return the favour.

When you're at the lunch table...

The lunch break is the only respite your colleagues get from work all day so for heaven's sake don't bring business into the cafeteria. Wait till after lunch to tell your colleague to send you that email or complete the job she started yesterday.

Use your lunch break to get to know your colleagues better. Ask about their hobbies, their opinions (on topics other than work) or where they like to shop. Just make sure not to be too invasive.

When you're in a crisis...

When your marriage is collapsing, your kids are driving you up the wall or your mom is in hospital, it's just not possible to put on a brave face at work. You might have moments when you look less than happy. And there'll be plenty of people who are concerned or at least pretend to be. That's not your opportunity to tell all. Find a friend out of office for that.

If you have a very close friend (by that I don't mean your Friday night drinking buddy), you could share certain details about your private life. Just make sure not to obsess all day or you will quickly become "the leech."

Have any more tips to share? Leave a comment.  Let's talk about it.
