Restless mind ~~

Its 3:35 AM and I am still not sleepy. Have to be in office my 8:30AM. I don’t know how I will manage. I am having another restless night with bombarding thoughts in my mind. I thought I should return to the cocoon (my blog) and find some peace by having words with myself and my fellow readers.

Finally my sister got engaged. It was a long wait but it happened for good. She isn’t much romantic type of person. These days I realised I too fall in that category. Actually I am romantic but I am not filmy romantic. I am more of logical and practical person who choose to express my feelings with words and gestures. I never know RD would be filmy romantic but believe me he is. It took me long time to realise. You know what I mean when any one say filmy romantic – building castle in Spain types, whim to be in Rome when you are actually in Singapore. But that's like the ideal hero. Don’t we like when Runbeer  (I can imagining him running to catch a can of beer and say my can :P)realises he is in love and does all the crazy things for Katreena in 'Ajab Prem ki Jajab Kahani'? Don’t we glee in every dialogs of 'Dil toh Pagal hai'?
Does being mature take you away from your flight to your fancy land?
I hope NOT!

Solutions of some problems

Many weird things happen in our day to day life. Somethings we find easy to manage and other things are just not in our hand. We try our best to make our day perfect but something goes wrong and we wonder where did we go wrong? why things have to go so bad?
When nothing works, we look for peace for our restless mind.
There are mantras which can help us in some situations. Mantras are not about the translation but rather about the sound vibration they set up and also about your intention in using them. When the words are pronounce correctly it will have its effect even though we might not know the meaning. Improper pronunciation of Mantra can inflict losses.
Its always advisable to understand the meanings of such Mantras; mean it, feel it and recite.
When I was kid my mom made me recite some Aarti, Bhajans, Slokas and Mantras. I did not know the meanings of what I used to recite then but as per her it would definitely help me in one way or the other.
I am sharing some Mantras which will help in our daily life.
Use this mantra to remove obstacles from any area of your life. You don't even have to know what the obstacle is exactly for this to be of benefit.

Ganesh Mantra - Obstacle Breaker

Shanti Mantra ( Peaceful )

This is the shanti mantra, very peaceful to listen

The "sarveshaam mantra" is one of the peace or shanti mantras
which may be used to invoke
harmony and tranquility
in the environment in which puja or prayers are performed.
This shanti mantra may be repeated three or eleven times, as time permits. The mantra may perhaps be used as a closing prayer for the puja, to bless all those in attendance.
Sarveshaam Svastir Bhavatu
Sarveshaam Shaantir Bhavatu
Sarveshaam Purnam Bhavatu
Sarveshaam Mangalam Bhavatu.
Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah
Sarve Santu Niramayaah.
Sarve Bhadrani Pashyantu.
Maa Kashchit Duhkhabhahg Bhavetll
May good befall all,
May there be peace for all,
May all be fit for perfection, and
May all experience that which is auspicious.
May all be happy.
May all be healthy.
May all experience what is good and
let no one suffer.
May it so happen (-bhavantu) that everyone (-sarve) receives happiness (-sukhinah) ;
let them all be saint-like (-santu) and be without disease and in good health (-niraamayaah).
Let them see with their own eyes (-pashyantu) the goodness of life (-bhadaraani) ;
And let them not (maa) contemplate in their conscious mind (-kashchidh) any sorrow inducing (dukh) thoughts while they remain beneficiaries (-bhavet) of good fortune (-bhaag).

Are you too friendly at work?

Read a interesting article in http://www.idiva.com today about relationship with employees. How personal can you get with your colleagues. We think we should maintain professionalism at work but as the matter of fact some personal stuff do get mixed up in spite of not wanting it. Reasons could me
  • Indians are too friendly
  • emotional
  • when you spend much time together in same place you tend to open up.

You've been working with the same team for over a year and you feel like they are family. You think you can go clubbing with one colleague, discuss your love life with the other and exchange recipes with the third. That's great, except that it might not be the best idea.

Now we're not suggesting you become a conceited little stuck-up. All we're saying is not to let your guard down too quick.

Take a look at our tips on how to deal with colleagues in different scenarios. They'll help you fit in without crossing those invisible boundaries.

When bonding over the boss...

He's a taskmaster and everyone cribs about him. So it seems like a good idea to cuss behind his back and poke a little fun at him too. Just don't be surprised the next day when your boss stares at you so hard, he could burn you down to a cinder. It's probably your colleague who donned the wings of "the little birdie."

If your dragon boss yelled his head off at you for no apparent reason, that's your cue to let off a little steam. But don't make gossiping about the boss or exaggerating/ inventing stuff about him a habit.

When you're invited for a party...

So you've tuned your antennae to detect kiss-ups, slackers and the likes, so you can avoid them. But don't distance yourself completely. If you're invited for dinner with the group, don't turn down the offer. You don't want them to think you're uptight, now do you? Plus, it's a great opportunity to get your colleagues to warm up to you and for you to decide which ones you need to be careful about.

But remember, just because it's after hours, doesn't mean it's okay to let your guard down completely. Watch what you say and how you behave; after all, you will have to see them in office tomorrow!

When you're part of a team...

So you think you are the best at what you do. Sure; you probably are. But you are not the boss – not yet at least. If your boss has assigned a task to someone, you don't need to doubt your team mate's abilities. Instead, focus on what has been assigned to you. Stop trying to play mother hen to your colleagues. Handholding them or doing their work is not your job! You don't get brownie points for that. In fact, you'll either get nicknamed "the bully" or become the doormat.

But while you are staying focused on your work, remember, it's always good to lend someone a hand now and then. They might just return the favour.

When you're at the lunch table...

The lunch break is the only respite your colleagues get from work all day so for heaven's sake don't bring business into the cafeteria. Wait till after lunch to tell your colleague to send you that email or complete the job she started yesterday.

Use your lunch break to get to know your colleagues better. Ask about their hobbies, their opinions (on topics other than work) or where they like to shop. Just make sure not to be too invasive.

When you're in a crisis...

When your marriage is collapsing, your kids are driving you up the wall or your mom is in hospital, it's just not possible to put on a brave face at work. You might have moments when you look less than happy. And there'll be plenty of people who are concerned or at least pretend to be. That's not your opportunity to tell all. Find a friend out of office for that.

If you have a very close friend (by that I don't mean your Friday night drinking buddy), you could share certain details about your private life. Just make sure not to obsess all day or you will quickly become "the leech."

Have any more tips to share? Leave a comment.  Let's talk about it.

Janet Fitch's 10 rules for writers

The list -- intended for fiction writers but good for many of us
1. Write the sentence, not just the story
Long ago I got a rejection from the editor of the Santa Monica Review, Jim Krusoe. It said: “Good enough story, but what’s unique about your sentences?” That was the best advice I ever got. Learn to look at your sentences, play with them, make sure there’s music, lots of edges and corners to the sounds. Read your work aloud. Read poetry aloud and try to heighten in every way your sensitivity to the sound and rhythm and shape of sentences. The music of words. I like Dylan Thomas best for this–the Ballad of the Long-Legged Bait. I also like Sexton, Eliot, and Brodsky for the poets and Durrell and Les Plesko for prose. A terrific exercise is to take a paragraph of someone’s writing who has a really strong style, and using their structure, substitute your own words for theirs, and see how they achieved their effects.
2. Pick a better verb
Most people use twenty verbs to describe everything from a run in their stocking to the explosion of an atomic bomb. You know the ones: Was, did, had, made, went, looked… One-size-fits-all looks like crap on anyone. Sew yourself a custom made suit. Pick a better verb. Challenge all those verbs to really lift some weight for you.
3. Kill the cliché.

When you’re writing, anything you’ve ever heard or read before is a cliché. They can be combinations of words: Cold sweat. Fire-engine red, or phrases: on the same page, level playing field, or metaphors: big as a house. So quiet you could hear a pin drop. Sometimes things themselves are cliches: fuzzy dice, pink flamingo lawn ornaments, long blonde hair.Just keep asking yourself, “Honestly, have I ever seen this before?” Even if Shakespeare wrote it, or Virginia Woolf, it’s a cliché. You’re a writer and you have to invent it from scratch, all by yourself. That’s why writing is a lot of work, and demands unflinching honesty.

4. Variety is the key.
Most people write the same sentence over and over again. The same number of words–say, 8-10, or 10-12. The same sentence structure. Try to become stretchy–if you generally write 8 words, throw a 20 word sentence in there, and a few three-word shorties. If you’re generally a 20 word writer, make sure you throw in some threes, fivers and sevens, just to keep the reader from going crosseyed.
5. Explore sentences using dependent clauses.
A dependent clause (a sentence fragment set off by commas, dontcha know) helps you explore your story by moving you deeper into the sentence. It allows you to stop and think harder about what you’ve already written. Often the story you’re looking for is inside the sentence. The dependent clause helps you uncover it.
6. Use the landscape.
Always tell us where we are. And don’t just tell us where something is, make it pay off. Use description of landscape to help you establish the emotional tone of the scene. Keep notes of how other authors establish mood and foreshadow events by describing the world around the character. Look at the openings of Fitzgerald stories, and Graham Greene, they’re great at this.
7. Smarten up your protagonist.
Your protagonist is your reader’s portal into the story. The more observant he or she can be, the more vivid will be the world you’re creating. They don’t have to be super-educated, they just have to be mentally active. Keep them looking, thinking, wondering, remembering.
8. Learn to write dialogue.
This involves more than I can discuss here, but do it. Read the writers of great prose dialogue–people like Robert Stone and Joan Didion. Compression, saying as little as possible, making everything carry much more than is actually said. Conflict. Dialogue as part of an ongoing world, not just voices in a dark room. Never say the obvious. Skip the meet and greet.
9. Write in scenes.
What is a scene? a) A scene starts and ends in one place at one time (the Aristotelian unities of time and place–this stuff goes waaaayyyy back). b) A scene starts in one place emotionally and ends in another place emotionally. Starts angry, ends embarrassed. Starts lovestruck, ends disgusted. c) Something happens in a scene, whereby the character cannot go back to the way things were before. Make sure to finish a scene before you go on to the next. Make something happen.
10. Torture your protagonist.
The writer is both a sadist and a masochist. We create people we love, and then we torture them. The more we love them, and the more cleverly we torture them along the lines of their greatest vulnerability and fear, the better the story. Sometimes we try to protect them from getting booboos that are too big. Don’t. This is your protagonist, not your kid.
coming up post : write up on my 1st day in office, yes guys I am back to work after such a long break!!

Within herself

She kept telling to herself that today she would not let the tears pass through her cheeks, that she would be brave and matured enough to hold them in her eyes till the tear drops dried.
She said all that she could to express love.
After all this the boy could reply was that he was sleepy.
Went wasted, went unresponded, unreaction and no awwwwww baby.
Her heart felt a pang and she knew she was done. This heart is not so weak, she kept telling to herself. It’s ok she would talk to him the next day.
As the matter of fact, she is not easy with hiding feelings. Her eyes spoke, her voice spoke and he got to know she was angry, but he didn’t see it broke her heart too.

In life most of the things are unplanned.

The Zahir

I was reading "The Zahir" by Paulo Coelho and came across this amazing part. Thought would share it with you.

Writing is one of the most solitary activities in the world. Once every two years, I sit
down in front of the computer, gaze out on the unknown sea of my soul, and see a few
islands—ideas that have developed and which are ripe to be explored. Then I climb into
my boat—called The Word—and set out for the nearest island. On the way, I meet strong
currents, winds, and storms, but I keep rowing, exhausted, knowing that I have drifted
away from my chosen course and that the island I was trying to reach is no longer on my
horizon.
I can’t turn back, though, I have to continue somehow or else I’ll be lost in the middle of
the ocean; at that point, a series of terrifying scenarios flash through my mind, such as
spending the rest of my life talking about past successes, or bitterly criticizing new
writers, simply because I no longer have the courage to publish new books. Wasn’t my
dream to be a writer? Then I must continue creating sentences, paragraphs, chapters, and
go on writing until I die, and not allow myself to get caught in such traps as success or
failure. Otherwise, what meaning does my life have? Being able to buy an old mill in the
south of France and tending my garden? Giving lectures instead, because it’s easier to
talk than to write? Withdrawing from the world in a calculated, mysterious way, in order
to create a legend that will deprive me of many pleasures?
Shaken by these alarming thoughts, I find a strength and a courage I didn’t know I had:
they help me to venture into an unknown part of my soul. I let myself be swept along by
the current and finally anchor my boat at the island I was being carried toward. I spend
days and nights describing what I see, wondering why I’m doing this, telling myself that
it’s really not worth the pain and the effort, that I don’t need to prove anything to anyone,
that I’ve got what I wanted and far more than I ever dreamed of having.

And it is a constant source of surprise to me to discover that other people were also in
search of that very island and that they find it in my book. One person tells another
person about it, the mysterious chain grows, and what the writer thought of as a solitary
exercise becomes a bridge, a boat, a means by which souls can travel and communicate.
From then on, I am no longer the man lost in the storm: I find myself through my readers,
I understand what I wrote when I see that others understand it too, but never before. On a
few rare occasions, like the one that is just about to happen, I manage to look those
people in the eye and then I understand that my soul is not alone.

Yes I need Motivation

A long day today. Early morning yoga. Followed by afternoon interview and evening physio. I really want to get this job. I hope the interview goes well. So worried. I hate wearing formals but I've to wear it for interview.
This time the job profile doesn't look like accounting. The knowledge of basic accounting has gone so blur that I've decided to buy class 11 book of accountancy. Yuck, I hate to touch that book again. But for a timing its bible for me. Have to brush up for interview. I screwed my last interview. I don't want to repeat same this time. So my dear blogger friends pray that I get through and my troubled mind rest in peace.

Love

Its half past two and I'm not able to sleep. Its not cuz its usual me its cuz I didn't kiss you goodnight. I didn't hear your lazy voice saying my name like no one else can say. Its cuz you are far and I've been missing you so much and at times I hallucinate your presence. Its cuz your presence takes me different world and your smile makes my day.
Love you so much.

Unexpected!!

So you lit her cigarette, you’re feelin pretty good
You think you’ve got a shot, most girls you probably would
Yeah, this is that kind of place but she ain’t that kind of girl
You’re readin’ it all wrong, let me tell you about her

She only smokes when she drinks, she only drinks now and then
Now and then when she’s tired of being let down by men
You can give her a light but it’s not what you think
Everybody knows she only drinks alone

And she only smokes when she drinks
Did you ask her to dance. Let me guess, she told you no
Got to take her some place quiet and see how far that goes
Oh, don’t take it all that hard when she smiles and turns you down

For a complicated girl, she ain’t that hard to figure out
She only smokes when she drinks, she only drinks now and then
And now and then when she’s tired of bein’ let down by men
You can give her a light but it’s not what you think

You can give her a light but it’s not what you think
Everybody knows she only drinks alone
And she only smokes when she drinks
Yeah, that's right

I hate Love stories followed by real drama

When we don’t want to do anything we find hundreds of reason to ignore it or procrastinate it.

Since yesterday I was so happy that I got a call for interview. I don't even know what company it  was but I was happy for the fact that atleast for time being I wont be unemployed. Had put alarm to wake up at 8:30am. today morning when the alarm rang, I snooze it to 9am, then 9:30 then the natural body pain and leg pain started. my body was feeling too lazy to leave the cozy blanket when the out weather was so thanda.

Then I reminded myself (like I use to remind myself when I wanted to bunk early morning tourism classes to sleep for another 1 hr, the shortage, begging for attendance stuff)

yeah I reminded myself of the fact that once I get this job I will be able to buy things that I have craving for so long.

My list is elongating day by day what to do.

I watched “i hate love story” last night. It was full of drama, comedy movie rather than any other love story. One time watch for sure not more than that.

My friend wanted me to get vodka small bottle so that we cud gulp it down before the movie starts. I hate vodka, so I bought flavoured Bacardi and in case we didn't like Bacardi we could have black dog, Whiskey.

we managed to have shots of Bacardi, lemon flavour and hid the black dog bottle near the dustbin so that if luck flavoured we would come back and drink again in the break time. The bottles were missing in the intermission, sad. To kill the blue we had yummy Brownies and rest of the movies followed with loadsa drama scene :)

Enjoy the movie and let me know if you liked it.

Till then see ya, Keep reading and keep blogging.
